# PI

Last Monday a friend of mine sent me a picture of her new “Pi-Shirt”. A T-Shirt with the first 5000 digits of PI. I jokingly replied, saying that I check if she learned all digits till Friday. The only logical outcome was, that we ended up with a challenge. Who manages to learn the most digits of PI in 5 days. Winner gets a six pack of beer.

So we both started working.

On Friday we meet online via video chat with some friends that would act as jury. We both managed to recite every digest we learned without any mistake on the first try. She got 212. 218 on my site.

I think it’s quite interesting that we ended up with nearly the same number, given we used competently different tactics. I looked at some numbers, searched for patterns that seemed natural and then learned by repentantly writing them down an checking back with the original. She has gone with 5x2-blocks (e.G. `3. 14 15 92 65 35`

) without writing them down.

These are the blocks I’ve come up with.
